Views on the West exhibits
03.17
De Constant Rebecqueplein 20A 2518 RA Den Haag 070-3656546, Netherlands |
|
Views on the West exhibits 50 posters made by graphic designers from India and the Netherlands, displaying interpretations
of views on the West from an Indian perspective.
The design of the posters is based on information derived from interviews with Indian call centre employees. What ideas
do they have of the West? What are their impressions of life in Western society? Both Indian and Dutch designers worked with the
assignment description in audio which was composed from the original interviews.
The exhibition includes designs by Rajesh Dahiya and other Indian design professionals, by Annelys de Vet, Vinca Kruk, Bob van
Dijk, Jacques Koeweiden, Sybren Kuiper, by students from Academies of Art in the Netherlands
(The Hague, Utrecht, Rotterdam) and by students from India (Ahmedabad,
Bangalore and Pune).
The official opening will be performed by design guru Gert Dumbar and Marieke Bolle,
alderman Finance & Culture, The Hague. Also, the names of a Dutch and an Indian student, who's designs win the prize of an India/ Holland exchange, will be announced. The following days - March 18 till 21 - the exhibition is open for visitors from 12AM till 7PM.
Opening on 17 March 20pm

Kohei Yoshiyuki’s The Park
03.23
612 N. Almont Drive in West Hollywood 90069 |
|
M+B is pleased to present the West Coast premiere exhibition of Japanese photographer Kohei Yoshiyuki’s The Park. Shot in three Tokyo parks during the early seventies, The Park is a series of black and white photographs capturing couples meeting up for clandestine trysts and, more provocatively, the voyeurs who came out to watch them. First exhibited in 1979 at Komai Gallery in Tokyo, the uproar surrounding his methods caused these photographs to be hidden from the public for the next 28 years. The Los Angeles exhibition opens on March 13, 2010 with an opening reception from 6 to 8p and will run through April 24, 2010. A monograph of the same name published by Hatje Cantz and Yossi Milo Gallery will accompany the exhibition and includes an original essay by Vince Aletti, along with an interview conducted by Nobuyoshi Araki that first appeared in a 1980 monograph of Yoshiyuki’s work.
